The Small and the Infinite: A Gouache Sketchbook Workshop with Ragha inspired by Poetry
Publisher: Champaca Bookstore, Library and Cafe
What does it mean to truly notice the world around us? A blade of grass, a shaft of afternoon light, the feeling of walking slowly with nowhere urgent to be — these small moments have long inspired poets and artists alike. In The Small and the Infinite, Ragha invites participants into that space of attention through a two-hour gouache sketchbook workshop inspired by the works of Walt Whitman, Mary Oliver, and Ruskin Bond.
Designed as an intimate and reflective creative session, the workshop moves between poetry and painting. Participants will spend time reading selected poems, sitting with the images and emotions they evoke, and responding on paper through guided gouache exercises. Rather than focusing on technical skill or perfect illustration, the workshop encourages instinctive mark-making, colour exploration, and emotional response.
Here are the event details:
Date: 13th June, Saturday
Time: 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM
Venue: Champaca Bookstore, Vasanthnagar
Ragha is a Bangalore-based self-taught artist and writer whose creative practice is rooted in reading, painting, and building spaces for slow creativity. Through her sketchbooks and workshops, she explores the relationship between observation, memory, and everyday beauty.
Whether you’re someone who paints often or someone picking up a brush for the first time, this workshop is designed to feel welcoming and open-ended. Participants will leave with a finished sketchbook spread, curated reading recommendations, and perhaps a renewed way of looking at the ordinary world around them.
