Awaaz: Voices of Govandi

 Awaaz brings together the voices from the M-East ward of Govandi, Mumbai, heard during the Govandi Arts Festival. A range of media, from stories to recordings to illustrations paint a picture of an area that thrums with culture and life. Through insightful conversations, Nisha Nair-Gupta and the People-Place Project delve into the community, and guide readers through tough questions about positionality, art and marginality. A project that sought to not only immerse readers in the richness of Govandi, but give a voice to it, Awaaz celebrates the power of collaboration, empathy, and inclusive storytelling to capture the essence of a vibrant neighbourhood.
