Hello fellow book lover,
How have you been? Lately, all we’ve been doing is enjoying the Bangalore weather with books and endless cups of tea. We’ve also spent a lot of time running around our bookstore trying to protect books from the rain and sudden hailstorms!
June is our birthday month. As we turn four, there’s lots for us to be excited about and look forward to. We were thrilled that after two years of the pandemic and lockdowns, in our fourth year we were open throughout the year! This opened up exciting possibilities for us – we were able to invite authors from across the country to our store for events, host book launches and interact with our readers in-person. Focusing on the in-store experience of customers has been the biggest joy for us. We also loved curating displays, rearranging shelves, and putting up personal notes for the books we like.
In June, we also come to the end of the third edition in the Champaca Book Subscription. As readers, curating books for the theme of Loneliness and Connection was extremely meaningful. We have spent the last year thinking deeply about the experience of loneliness, and through the books we read, we have a deeper appreciation for the many ways in which our connections are formed and nurtured. Much of our time in May was spent putting together the fourth edition of the Champaca Book Subscription! We’re excited to share our new theme with you, and to read with you again — keep an eye out on our social media for more updates!
Lastly, we’d like to leave you with this listicle we put together for The News Minute, a compilation of books on mothers, daughters, and the many worlds between them. If you’re in Bangalore, we invite you to come by and visit us — have some coffee, dig into a slice of cake, chat with us about what to read next, and pick up your next book haul! For the rest of you, there is always our online bookshop, and believe us, it is no consolation prize.
Until next time, happy reading!
