Taste is part art object, part literary magazine, edited by Lakshmi Chaudhry and illustrated by Kriti Monga. Featuring original essays and conversations by Aatish Taseer, Vivek Shanbhag, Srinath Perur and more. It asks what taste is, who decides it, and how it reveals itself in the way we live. Printed in a strictly limited edition of 500 copies, it is the first of an annual imprint.
Lakshmi Chaudhry moderates a conversation between Vivek Shanbhag and Srinath Perur, moving between their two pieces—Writing in Tongues & Immortal Beloveds, on the cultural intersections where language meets what it cannot say. Lakshmi brings both threads into conversation with one another, tracing how each author navigates the untranslatable through language, migration and culture.
The conversation is followed by Kriti Monga who will share her process of visually responding to both pieces and the stakes that design brings to the environment of these two pieces, and the various negotiations that defined her approach.
