The novel 1992 Sahitya Akademi award winning novel is a fictional record of the national movement in Andhra, a story which covers four generations a reflection of modern Indian history with reference to the Telugu  people from the freedom struggle up to the assassination of Mrs. Indira Gandhi and after. Many historical figures appear in the course of the novel.
