Champaca Book Subscription FAQ

What’s in my Champaca Book Subscription?
Each parcel contains a carefully curated book chosen according to the year’s theme, and a curation note. Depending on the month, it may contain a companion book. Through the year, it will also contain special Champaca postcards and bookmarks.

What are the different plans?
We have seven plans available: for three months, six months and twelve months in basic and advanced options, and a Champaca Super Member plan. See this page for more details and for pricing.

What is the Champaca Book Club and Book Community? How do I get access to that?
The Book Club and Book Community are exclusive to people who sign up for advanced options. Find out more about the Club and Community here.

What are the shipping costs?
If you are in Bangalore, you can pick your parcel up from the store directly at no extra cost, or get it shipped. Shipping costs are calculated by weight and by distance. We ship books using a host of courier partners (XPressBees, FedEx, Delhivery, and Bluedart) based on your location. At checkout, you’ll be able to see how much it costs to ship to where you are.

Can I do a pick up from your store instead of adding shipping?
Yes - but please let us know beforehand on

What if I already have a book I received in the Subscription?
Currently, we aren’t able to accept exchanges or returns.

Can I return or exchange the book if I don’t like it?
Currently, we aren’t able to accept exchanges or returns. 

Can I cancel my subscription?
Your subscription can be canceled if you write to us within 15 days of purchase. The amount paid will be refunded in the form of a gift voucher. After 15 days from the date of purchase, we are unable to cancel subscriptions, but you will continue to receive books till your subscription ends. 

How can I pay? 
You can use any mode of payment accepted on Razorpaycredit cards, debit cards, UPI, netbanking and wallets.

When do the books get shipped?
The books ship in the first week of every month. Your membership will usually start from the month after you sign up (for example, if you sign up before the 25th of July, it will start from August). Please note this is liable to change; read our Champaca Book Subscription webpage for any notices about this. We may close some months early.

Why is my Subscription delayed? 
Due to a host of reasons, including the pandemic, deliveries may be delayed during this uncertain time, due to circumstances out of our control—please bear with us! You can contact the courier partners directly with your tracking number for queries about delivery.

For what age group is the Book Subscription?
The Box is aimed at readers of ages sixteen and up.

When will my subscription start?
After the cutoff date, the 25th of each month, you’ll be able to choose from three, six, and twelve month plans. For example, if you sign up in July for the six month plan, you’ll be able to pay and receive books for the next six months—from August to January. The twelve-month plans are rolling: it will carry over into the next year's theme. The Super Member plan is also open on a rolling basis through the year.

Can I buy books from the old Subscription months?
Yes, but without the benefits of the plans, like access to our Book Club and Community! Once we’ve shipped all parcels for the month, the books will be available at our store and on the website. 

Can I try the Subscription for one month before subscribing for 3, 6 or 12 months?
Currently, given the logistics, we aren’t able to offer the box for a period shorter than three months. 

Will I get books worth the price I pay?
The Champaca Book Subscription offers the same amount of books regardless of which plan you pick. However, as an advanced subscriber, you will have access to the wide range of features exclusive to you: a continuous conversation with other book-lovers, Book Club meetings with literary and cultural critic Somak Ghoshal, and free access to exciting events.
