White Addition Black Total is the first collection of poems in the English by Chinmoy Jena. The poems are quiet observations of life around him, memory and nostalgia for time gone by. The poems deal with various themes like his relations, his native land and many of these poems reflect honesty and simplicity. There is also a strong autobiographical strain in these poems which describes his affinity for his native land and the people living in the remote village. The lyrical base of the poems are, however, not autobiographical only and there is an undercurrent of irony prevailing.
