The Sacred Heresy

The Sacred Heresy presents a selection of the eminent Marathi poet Vinda Karandikar's poems in English translation. All the translations have been made by the poet himself and he has also provided notes to some of them.

The Sacred Heresy could therefore claim to be the most representative single volume collection of Vinda Karandikar's poems in English translation. Karandikar career spans the last half century and is in itself eloquent evidence of the dynamic cultural transformation of India whose golden jubilee of Independence was just celebrated. Across the Indian literature spread over several languages and their distinct literary traditions.
