I Am A Language

The cover shows the painting, 'The Therapeutist' by the Belgian surrealist artist, Rene Magritte (1898-1967) on whose works Michel Foucault has written the book, This is not a pipe. Magritte created several witty and thought-provoking images that often depicted ordinary objects and people in extraordinary contexts, challenging the observer's preconditioned perception of reality. His famous statements like 'Everything we see hides another thing we always want to see what is hidden under what we see', 'Art evokes the mystery without which the world would not exist'. Seeing his original works in the Rene Magritte museum in Brusells was a unique experience; he seemed to be creating the alphabet of a new language to express the world.
