Women should be seen and not heard — was and continues to be an oft-repeated belief in schools, households, and public spaces. The act of silencing women is masked by the seemingly innocent excuse of upholding their honour and respectability. In this context, using their voice to talk about their experiences becomes a powerful act of defiance.

Through a year-long collaboration with Daak, we will be curating gift boxes with books and literature-themed gifts that bring us voices from around South Asia, across themes of rebellion, social commentary, love, and loss. The books and merchandise will change every quarter and you can order again, if you’d so wish!’

This box is curated around the theme of Fearless Chronicling by women — of lives, times and love. Here's what you'll get as part of our second collaborative box:

- 1 x My Story by Kamala Das was first published in Malayalam and is a memoir about Das's passage to womanhood, shedding light on the hypocrisies that informed traditional society.

- 1 x Letters of Blood by Riza is set in the often violent world of prostitution in Bangladesh. Rahman brings great sensitivity and insight to her chronicles of the lives of women trapped in this bleak world.

-1 x Daak Writer's Notebook - A hard-bound, unruled notebook by Daak.

- 1 x 'Phir Milangi' by Amrita Pritam - A fridge magnet featuring the verse 'Phir Milangi' by the poet.

- 2 x Daak Cheeky Greeting Card - Greeting Cards by Daak
