Confessional Poetry Writing Workshop with Shruti Sonal | Champaca, Indiranagar | 7 September, 11AM
Writing poetry can often feel like a solitary pursuit, tucked away in silence or late at night, as films would have us believe. But it doesn’t have to be. What if you could write in the company of others, bringing your words to life on a Sunday morning at Champaca?
Join us for an interactive two-hour confessional poetry workshop with Shruti Sonal, where we’ll explore the questions: how do we transform our memories, fears, grief and dreams into poems? How do we find lyricism in the everyday? And how do we dig deep into our selves, while writing something that resonates with others?
Through visual prompts and excerpts from poets such as Forugh Farrokhzad and Kamala Das, participants will be guided into shaping their own poems. At the end of the session, we’ll read aloud, share feedback, and reflect together.
Shruti will also be in conversation, sharing her own journey with poetry and reading from her debut collection In Which Language Do I Remember You?
