What happens when you tumble down a hill and land on a mystery?

Join us for a special book reading and comic-making workshop around Botanist and the Vanishing Orchid, a comic inspired by true events in the forests of Tamil Nadu. Based on the story of a botanist who accidentally makes a discovery, this session begins with a live reading of the comic, followed by a hands-on workshop where participants complete a comic of their own.

With some panels already illustrated and others left blank, you get to imagine the characters, twist the plot, and decide how the tale ends!

Here are the event details

About the facilitators

Radha Patkar
Radha is a visual communication designer, born and raised in Mumbai and currently based in Bangalore. A recent graduate from the National Institute of Design, Bhopal, her creative process often begins with quiet sketches in a notebook before unfolding into more elaborate visual narratives. Her work is rooted in storytelling, world-building, and visual scripting, driven by a desire to make the ordinary feel a little more special. Inspired by the chaos of city life, its people, and the fleeting details often overlooked, Radha creates illustrations and comics that celebrate everyday moments with quiet intensity and care.

Jaya Peter
Jaya believes in stories as a way to communicate. She began her career writing and directing for the TV programme Surabhi on Doordarshan, and went on to direct three documentaries for the Ford Foundation on the indigenous people of Bihar and Chhattisgarh. Over the last fifteen years, Jaya has worked as a creative director in broadcast media houses including Star TV, Sahara Manoranjan, Sony, Viacom 18 and Mazhavil Manorama. She was also involved in brand strategy for IPL Season 2 and 3, and directed campaigns for SONY MAX. She also occasionally writes on travel and wildlife for newspapers and magazines.
